If you come down to A. B. Nagar in Unnao, you’ll find us at number 154 on D S N Road. Jayanti Tailoring College is basically just a few rooms filled with sewing machines. It stays pretty busy from morning until evening. You can hear the constant whirring of the machine motors and the sound of heavy scissors cutting through thick cloth. People from around Jawaher Nager come here to learn how to stitch properly. We have long wooden tables where we lay out the fabric to mark it with chalk. There are spools of thread in every color you can think of sitting on the shelves. It’s a practical place, not a fancy office. Sometimes the floor is covered in scraps of silk and cotton by the end of the day. We teach people how to do basic seams, how to put in zippers, and how to make a suit fit right. The lighting isn't always perfect, but we make it work. Most of the people here are just trying to learn a skill so they can work from home or open a small shop of their own. It gets a bit cramped when we have a full class, and everyone is trying to use the iron at the same time. We’ve been at this address for a while, and most of the neighbors know the sound of our machines. It is hard work but it is honest and keeps us busy.
