Jaidev Stationery And Xerox

Our shop is at 4-3-154/2 in Attapur. It’s a small place, mostly filled with stacks of paper and rows of pens and notebooks. The Xerox machine is the heart of the shop. It makes a steady humming sound all day long. Sometimes it jams, and we have to open it up and pull out the crumpled paper, which is always a bit of a mess for our hands. Students from the nearby schools come in all the time to get their projects copied or to buy a new pen because they lost theirs during class. It gets quite crowded in the afternoons when the schools let out. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling, so we often have to use a little wooden stool to reach the stuff at the very top. The lighting isn't the brightest, but we know where everything is even if the power goes out for a bit. My name is on the sign, Jaidev, and I’m usually the one behind the counter or fixing the stapler. It’s a busy life, but I enjoy it. I see a lot of different people every day. Some just want a single page copied, while others need whole books bound and covered. We have a small fan that wobbles a bit, but it keeps us cool enough during the summer months. We don't have a website or any social media. People just know we are here in Attapur when they need stationery. It’s a local shop for local people.
