Shri Thakur Steel

We are based in Gokak, right on Byalikata Road at number 4745. It’s a quiet town for the most part, but the steel business keeps us on our toes. We have a decent sized yard where we store everything. The weather here can be a bit dry, which is actually good for the metal. We handle everything from basic rods to larger sheets. Most of the people who come to us are farmers or local contractors building small shops in the market. We've known some of these families for a long time. It’s the kind of place where you stop to talk about the weather or the harvest before you even get to the business of steel. We don't have a big corporate structure. I handle the sales and my cousin looks after the deliveries. We have a couple of guys who help with the heavy lifting. The gate stays open from eight in the morning until the sun goes down. Sometimes we stay late if a shipment is arriving from out of town. We don't spend money on fancy signs or shiny brochures. We figure if the product is what people need and the price is fair, they will keep coming back. Our office is just a small room with a desk and a couple of plastic chairs for visitors. It’s practical and it works for us. We just take things one day at a time.
