Shyam Steel Industries Ltd.

Our place is over in Mejhia, out in Durgapur near the G.T. Road. Being in District Burdwan means we are right in the middle of a lot of industrial activity. The steel work keeps everyone here pretty busy from Monday to Saturday. It’s quite loud inside the facility with all the heavy metal being moved around, but you get used to the constant sound after a few days. We have a lot of different people coming in and out through the gates. The trucks often line up outside on the road waiting to load up or drop things off, which can get a bit chaotic. It can get very hot in the summer months, especially with the machinery running all day long in the heat. We keep water coolers everywhere to help everyone stay hydrated. The office part is just a few metal desks where we handle the paperwork and talk to the drivers who are passing through. It’s not a very polished place, just a working steel site with plenty of grease and dust on everything. We’ve been here in Mejhia for a good bit of time now. The main gates stay open for most of the daylight hours. Sometimes things get backed up when the weather is bad or the rain is heavy, but we just keep at it until the job is done. It’s honest, hard work. Most of the staff live nearby, so we all know each other well. We don’t really do anything fancy here; we just focus on getting the steel moved and making sure the orders are ready.
