Green Valley College Of Education is out in Lethpora, which is near Pampore in Pulwama. Most people know this area because of the saffron fields that turn purple in the autumn. Our college is located in a spot that feels quite open and quiet compared to the bigger towns. The air is usually fresh here. We have students coming from all over the district to study for their teaching credentials. The building is a plain structure that fits into the landscape. Inside you will find rows of desks and libraries filled with books that have been read hundreds of times. We don't have any shiny glass walls or expensive lounges. It is a place for study and nothing else. The staff here mostly comes from nearby villages and they understand the local life. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult like when the snow piles up on the road but the students usually find a way to get here. We spend our days going through lectures and preparing for exams. Lunch breaks usually mean students sitting together sharing whatever they brought from home. It is a slow and steady kind of place. We focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the future teachers know their subjects well. It is just a humble college in a very beautiful part of the world and we are glad to be here.
