Ssv Waradhi Blocks is based in Gulzarpet, down here in Anantapur. We make blocks, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. It’s heavy work and the yard gets quite dusty, especially when the wind picks up in the afternoon. We started out small and we’ve stayed that way for the most part. Our address is 9-202, which most of the locals can find without too much trouble. It is a practical business. We don't have a fancy lobby or a receptionist. Usually, you’ll find one of us near the machinery or checking the inventory in the back. The weather in Andhra Pradesh can be tough on the equipment, so we spend a lot of time on maintenance and repairs. We don't do much in the way of advertising. People around here just know where we are if they need blocks for a project. We show up early in the morning and stay until the work is finished. Sometimes the trucks are late or the materials don't arrive on time, and we just have to figure it out on the fly. It is a simple life and a simple business. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to provide what people need for their building sites. If you walk past our place, you'll hear the noise of the work going on. That’s just how it is every day. It's not glamorous, but it keeps us going and pays the bills.
