Nandi Engineering Works

If you are looking for our shop, we are right across from Sharda Lodge. Being in this post and district area for many years, we have seen the main street change quite a lot. The workshop is a bit old now and the roof leaks a tiny bit when it rains hard. The floor is stained with oil and there are tiny metal shavings in almost every corner. We do a lot of repair work and making small iron parts for different machines. You can usually hear the lathes running from out on the street. It is a noisy job, but we are used to it. Sometimes people staying at the lodge come over just to see what we are making with the fire and the hammers. We have a couple of old machines that still work better than the new ones we tried. It is just a few of us working here every day. My hands are almost always black from the grease, no matter how much I wash them with soap. We do not have a front office, just a wooden bench where we sit and talk to customers about their broken equipment. Most of our work comes from local farmers or the small factories nearby. We take things apart, fix what is broken, and put them back together. It takes time and sometimes we have to wait for the bus to bring parts from the city.
