Ram Gopal Ishwar Dass

If you walk into Krishna Market and head up to the first floor, you will find us at the very first shop. Ram Gopal Ishwar Dass has been in this spot for a while now. The market is always a bit of a maze, especially on the weekends when everyone is out shopping. I remember when we first moved in, the stairs felt much steeper than they do now. We keep the shop open quite late most nights because that is when the market really wakes up. It’s just a small space, but we have managed to fit a lot into it over the years. My father used to sit in the same chair I use today. We don’t really do anything fancy here, just sell what we have and talk to the people who walk in. Some of our customers have been coming to us since I was a kid. You hear a lot of stories sitting behind the counter. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to close up and do it. It is always business as usual. We handle the inventory ourselves and try to keep things tidy, even though the boxes always seem to multiply. Krishna Market is a loud place, but once you are inside the shop, it feels a bit more familiar and calm. We don't need much more than that.
