Apna Chulha

Our little spot, Apna Chulha, is located in Gali Mangal Singh near Chowk Pragdass. If you know Amritsar, you know these narrow lanes can be a bit of a maze. We are right by Raj Tirath Niwas. We keep things very traditional here. The name says it all, really. We use simple methods to cook and do not rely on a lot of modern machines. It is a small space, so it can get a bit cramped when the lunch rush starts. We mostly serve people who live nearby or workers who need a quick, hot meal. It is not the kind of place you go for a long, quiet dinner. It is busy, it is a bit noisy, and it smells like spices and smoke. We do our own shopping at the local markets every morning to see what looks good. We do not have a big team, just a couple of us handling everything from the cooking to the washing up. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are more worried about the food. People come to us because they want something that tastes real. It is just everyday food for everyday people. We are not trying to impress anyone with fancy plates or a big sign outside. We just want to make sure you leave with a full stomach and do not spend too much. It is hard work but we are used to it.
