You can find us over at 62 Majitha Road, not too far from the Gopal Mandir in Shastri Nagar. Teaching people how to drive in Amritsar is always an interesting job because the roads are never the same two days in a row. We have been doing this for a long time now, helping neighbors and young people get behind the wheel for the first time in their lives. Usually, we start out in the quieter lanes around Shastri Nagar before we even think about heading toward the busier parts of the city. It takes a lot of patience to sit in the passenger seat while someone is learning how to use the clutch and brake properly for the first time. I've spent many hours just explaining how to park without hitting the curb or how to watch out for the traffic coming from the side streets. The car we use is older but it runs fine and gets the job done for the learners. People often call us after they have failed their official test once or twice elsewhere, and we just go back to the basics with them until they feel steady. It isn't anything fancy, just a small office where we keep the schedules and the car keys. We know most of the people who live around here, and often we end up teaching three or four members of the same family over several years. It is good work, seeing someone finally get their license and drive off on their own without any help.
