Moti General Store

Moti General Store is right at Shop No. 1 at Islamabad Chownk in Amritsar. We are very close to Khalsa College and inside the Putlighar Market area. Because we are so near the college, our days are usually dictated by the student schedule. When the college is out for a break, the shop fills up with young people looking for notebooks, pens, or just something to snack on. We also serve the local families who live in the streets behind the market. We carry all sorts of general items, from soap and shampoo to biscuits and tea leaves. The shop is quite small, so we’ve had to be very creative with how we use the shelves. Everything is packed in quite tight. Sometimes you have to move one box to get to another, and it can get a bit dusty in the corners. We’ve been here long enough that we don't really notice the noise from the chownk anymore. The traffic is always loud, and there’s always someone honking outside. It’s just a regular part of our day. We don't have a big staff, just us and maybe a helper if it’s a weekend. We try to keep the prices fair so the students can afford what they need. It’s not a polished store, but it’s a reliable one. People know they can find the basic stuff here without having to walk all the way to the bigger markets.
