Kiwi Children Hospital

If you drive down Airport Road, you’ll find us right opposite the UK International Palace. Kiwi Children Hospital is a place where there is almost always the sound of a child crying or a toy being dropped. Dealing with kids is different than adults because they can't always tell you what hurts. We spend a lot of time trying to keep them calm. The walls have some colorful drawings on them to make it look less like a scary medical place. The location near the airport means it’s always busy outside with cars and taxis zooming past. We get parents coming in at all hours, often looking very worried. We do our best to check the little ones over and figure out if it’s just a common cold or something that needs more attention. Our waiting area has some small chairs for the kids, and we usually have a box of toys that they can play with while they wait. It gets messy sometimes, but that’s expected in a pediatric hospital. The doctors here are used to the noise and the chaos. We aren't a corporate giant; we are just a team of people who care about kids getting better. We see a lot of the same families from the neighborhood over and over as their kids grow up. It’s rewarding to see a child who came in sick leave with a smile on their face, even if they were scared.
