Hardware Store

Our little shop is right there on NH-1 in Khasa. It’s a busy spot because we’re so close to Gurukripa Hospital and that SP filling station where all the big trucks stop. You can’t miss it if you’re driving toward the border. We just call it Hardware Store because that’s exactly what it is. No need for a fancy name when people just want a bag of cement or some sturdy nails. I’ve been running this place for a few years now, and the dust from the highway is something you just get used to. We keep the doors open so the breeze comes in, even if it brings the noise of the traffic with it. Most of the guys who stop by are either working on a house nearby or they're drivers who had something break on their rig. I try to keep the bins full, but sometimes the deliveries are late and we have to wait a few days. It’s a bit messy in the back room where we keep the heavy pipes. I keep meaning to tidy it up, but there’s always something else to do. We’ve got a small kettle in the corner for tea, and that’s about as fancy as it gets here. It’s a plain, honest place for people who need to fix things. We don't have a big staff, just me and a helper who comes in for a few hours in the afternoon to help move the heavy stuff.
