Sanjoy Kurhe College Of Modern Art

Our building is located right on Tahsil Road in Amravati. The official name is the Sanjoy Kurhe College of Modern Art, and you can find us if you head down Tahasil Road toward the 444601 area. Since we focus on art here, the rooms are almost always filled with the smell of oil paints, stacks of canvases, and various half-finished projects. It is not the tidiest place in the world because making art usually gets a bit messy. Our students are often found hunched over their drawings or working on sculptures in the corners. The building itself is pretty basic and functional. We do not have a corporate management style or anything polished like that. It is more about the instructors and the students just doing their work. It gets a bit crowded when it is time for new admissions, but otherwise, the college has a steady, quiet rhythm to it. People from around Amravati know us as the local spot for anyone wanting to study modern art. We do not have any big mission statements or goals written on the walls. We just provide the space and the basic tools people need to learn their craft. The hallways are usually lined with student work, some of it is really good and some is still being worked on. It feels more like a workshop than a school most days, which seems to suit the people who come here to spend their time creating things.
