We are located out in Mailghat, specifically in Utawali within the Talukadharni area. It is a very different kind of place compared to the big cities. Life here is much slower and depends a lot on the seasons. We mostly deal with trading local goods that the people around here produce. It’s not always easy because the roads aren’t the best and sometimes the weather makes it hard to move things around. We spend a lot of time talking to the local farmers and collectors. Our office is a simple building, nothing special to look at. We have some basic furniture and a lot of registers where we write everything down by hand. There isn’t always a great phone signal out here, so we have to go outside sometimes to get a call through. We try to help move the products from the local areas to the markets where they can be sold. It’s a lot of logistical work in a place where things don’t always go according to plan. You have to be patient when you work in Utawali. We’ve been doing this for a while and we know the people in the community quite well. It’s more about the daily effort of keeping the trade moving than anything else. We just take things one day at a time and see what needs to be hauled next. It’s quiet work but it is important for the folks living out here.
