Being near Shiv Mandir on Akashwani Road means we hear the bells quite often during the day. It’s a busy spot in Nawapara. Our yard at No. 3 stays pretty full of supplies and half-finished batches. It’s just a regular yard where we do the work. The ground gets real muddy when it rains, making it tough to move the heavy stuff around. We usually start quite early before the sun gets too high because the heat in Nawapara can be a lot. Most days, it’s just us and the sound of the bricks clinking together. We don’t have much time for sitting around talking. There’s always another batch to get ready or a truck waiting out on the road. The street gets narrow when the big vehicles come through, so we have to be careful with the loading. It’s a lot of lifting and moving, which keeps everyone tired by the end of the shift. We’ve got a small shed for when we need a break from the sun. People coming from the temple sometimes stop by to ask questions about how we make them. It’s a simple life here, just making bricks and trying to keep up with what people need for their houses. Nothing more to it than that. We just focus on getting the work done and going home to rest. It isn't glamorous but it pays the bills for us.
