Shree Durga Marbles

We’ve been here at Saha Chowk for a while now. If you’re driving down National Highway 344 on the Panchkula Road, you probably saw our slabs sitting out. We are right near the Hanuman Mandir, which makes it easy for people to find us when they get lost. It’s a dusty spot because of all the stone cutting and the trucks passing by all day. We spend most of our mornings moving heavy marble blocks around and showing people what we have in stock. It isn't a fancy showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. Just a yard with a lot of stone and some sheds to keep the rain off. My hands are usually covered in white dust by noon. People come in looking for stuff for their new floors or kitchens, and we just show them what arrived on the last truck. Sometimes the colors don't match exactly what they saw last week, but that’s just how natural stone works. We don’t do much talking; we just let folks walk around and look at the patterns. The traffic at the chowk can be a headache, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home. But it's home to us. We’ve gotten used to the noise from the highway and the bells from the temple nearby. It’s a simple life, just moving stone and making sure the inventory is right. We just keep doing what we do every day.
