Royal Swine Genetics

Our place is situated behind Police Post No. 2 on Mall Godown Road. It’s tucked away in an area with a lot of warehouses, so there are always big trucks moving in and out. We work with swine genetics, which is a very specific kind of job. Most of our day is spent out in the pens with the animals. It’s a lot of manual labor, feeding them and keeping the place clean. The smell is quite strong, but we’ve worked here so long that we don’t even notice it anymore. We have a small laboratory area where we keep our records and do some of the technical work. It’s not a fancy lab like you see on TV; it’s just a room with some basic equipment and a lot of notebooks. We have a small team of people who have been with us for a long time. We know each animal and their history. It’s quiet back here behind the police post, which is nice. We don't get many visitors except for the people we do business with. The road can get very muddy when it rains, making it hard for smaller cars to get through. We just wear our boots and keep going. It’s a practical job and we don't spend much time worrying about how the office looks. As long as the animals are healthy and the data is correct, we are happy with how things are going.
