Master Auto Mech is right here at E-365 in the RIICO Industrial Area. It’s pretty much what you’d expect from a garage in this part of town. There are stacks of old tires near the door and a lot of greasy parts sitting on the shelves that we might use one day or maybe just keep around for spares. Most days start with us opening the heavy shutters and seeing what cars got dropped off. It’s always noisy because of the air tools and someone usually has a small radio playing in the corner, though nobody can ever agree on the music. We spend most of our time under hoods or looking at engines that have seen better days. It gets really hot in the summer with the sun hitting the metal roof, but we just keep the fans going and drink a lot of water and tea. We don't have a fancy waiting room with a TV or anything like that. People usually just drop their keys off and tell us about the weird rattling noise they’ve been hearing for a week. We try to be straight with people about what actually needs fixing now and what can wait until next time. Sometimes we run out of space when a big delivery comes in, so we have to shuffle cars around the yard. It’s a lot of manual work and our hands stay dirty no matter how much we scrub them. That’s just the reality of working in an industrial zone like this.
