Sacred Heart Public School

Sacred Heart Public School is located along Ezhattumugham Road in Mookkannoor. It’s a fairly straightforward place to find if you’re driving through the area. We have a decent sized building that houses all our classrooms under one roof. The surroundings are a bit green, which is nice when the sun is out. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of benches and boards. We don't have a lot of extra bells and whistles here. The office is right by the entrance where we keep all the paper records in big metal cupboards. We’ve got a small area where the kids play during their breaks, usually just kicking a ball around. The teachers here have been around a long time and they know most of the families in Mookkannoor personally. It’s a local operation through and through. Mornings start with a bit of a rush as the children arrive from the nearby villages. We spend the day going through the various subjects without much fuss. If it rains, we all have to crowd inside the main hall. The roof makes a lot of noise when it pours, but we just talk louder. It’s not perfect, but it’s our school and it serves the community well enough. We keep the gate shut during the day for safety, then open it wide when it’s time to go home. That’s how life goes for us here. It is just a normal school day after day.
