Shri Harunath Maltaa Bageshwar Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out in Sayaldoba. We are located at Ramesh Singh Bisht’s place in the Kandey area. If you know Bageshwar, you know that malta oranges are a big deal around here. That’s a large part of what we do. The name of our company is a mouthful, but it represents who we are and what we care about. We spend our days looking after the orchards and making sure the fruit is growing well. It’s a lot of manual labor, pruning the trees and keeping the pests away, but when the harvest comes and the hills are orange with fruit, it’s worth it. Ramesh Singh’s house serves as our meeting point and office. It’s where we weigh the fruit and talk to the other farmers in the group. We aren't trying to be some massive corporation; we just want to help the local growers get their malta to the markets. Bageshwar has a specific climate that makes the fruit taste a certain way, and we try to protect that. Sometimes the mountain weather is unpredictable, with hailstorms that can ruin a whole season in minutes, so we have to stay alert. We just take things as they come, working hard in the orchards and staying connected with the community here in Sayaldoba and Kandey. It’s honest work, and it keeps us grounded while we deal with the daily chores of the farm.
