Our place is right on the Main Road in Kamakhyaguri, just a short walk from the post office. It’s a busy spot in Alipurduar with people coming and going all day. Bumpa Agro Research is what we call ourselves, mostly because we spend a lot of time looking at how different plants grow in our climate. We aren't scientists in white coats, just folks who pay real attention to the dirt and the seeds we plant. The 736202 area has its own set of challenges with the heavy rains and the humidity. We try to figure out what grows best in this specific soil so we don't waste time. The office is a bit cluttered with papers and soil samples, but we know where everything is. Usually, there’s a tea pot going in the corner for anyone who stops by. People from the village come in to talk about their harvests or their problems with the insects. We listen and try to offer some practical ideas based on what we've actually seen work in the fields. It's a small operation. We don't have any fancy lab equipment, just our eyes and some basic tools. Sometimes the rain in Alipurduar makes the road a total mess, but we still open up the doors. It’s a long way from the big cities, so we have to be self-reliant. We aren't interested in making big promises to anyone. We just want to see the local farms do a bit better each year.
