Vcsm Computer Center

Working at the computer center in Aligarh is mostly about staying patient. We have a row of machines set up and there is almost always someone sitting at one of them. The hum of the cooling fans is the background noise of our lives. We teach people how to use basic programs and sometimes we help them fix a glitch or set up an email. It is a small place and when it gets full, it gets quite warm inside. We have to keep the dust off the keyboards, which is a never-ending job in this city. Aligarh has its own pace and we just fit into it. Most of our students are local kids or people looking to learn a new skill for work. We don't have fancy leather chairs or the latest high-end tech, just solid machines that work well enough. Sometimes the internet is slow and we all just have to sit and wait for it to come back up. We spend our breaks talking about the latest gadgets or just watching the street outside. It is a simple setup but it serves the neighborhood. We open up early and usually stay until the last person finishes their practice. It isn't a glamorous job but it keeps us busy and we like being part of the community here. The bills get paid and we keep the monitors glowing.
