M Ikram Arrah

My name is M Ikram Arrah and I work out of Sarai Hakeem on Numaish Road in Aligarh. It’s a very well-known area, especially during the time of the exhibition. The pin code is 202001. I’ve been in this spot for many years. It’s a small place, nothing too big. I don't have a lot of staff, just a couple of people to help me keep things tidy. We see a lot of people who live nearby in the Sarai Hakeem neighborhood. It’s a tight-knit community here. People stop by just to say hello sometimes, even if they don't need anything. That’s just how Aligarh is. The room where I work is full of papers and things I’ve collected over the years. It’s not very modern-looking, but it’s comfortable for me and the people who visit. Numaish Road can get very crowded, especially with the rickshaws and the shops all around. I don't use a computer for everything; I still like to write things down in a ledger. It feels more real that way. We don't have a mission statement or a fancy slogan. We just open the door in the morning and wait to see who needs help. It’s a practical way to live. Some people have been coming to this address for decades. I plan to stay here as long as I can, just doing my bit in the middle of Sarai Hakeem for the locals.
