Over in Kappilmekku, specifically in the Krishnapuram area, you will find our small operation. It’s a quiet place compared to the big cities. We started Real Food because we wanted to work for ourselves. The building is just a simple structure, but it has enough room for us to handle the food preparation. We spend a lot of time washing and prepping things. The air usually smells like whatever we cooked that morning. We don't have a lot of workers, just a few local people who live nearby. We walk to work most days since we live close by. The floor is made of concrete and it stays cold, which is nice when the sun is beating down outside. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy packaging. We just put things in plain bags and boxes. Most of our customers are people from the surrounding villages who have known us for a long time. Sometimes a stray dog will sit by the door waiting for a scrap. We don't mind. It’s a slow pace of life here, and we like it that way. We just want to make sure the food we put out is decent and that we have enough to keep going for another month. Krishnapuram is a good place to live and work because it is not too crowded. Kappilmekku has its own charm, especially in the evenings when the sun goes down behind the trees. We don't plan on moving anywhere else for a long time, as this place feels like home.
