Punnamada Backwater Resort

We are right by the water in Punnamada. We've been here a while now. We have some rooms and the lake is basically our front yard. It gets pretty humid around here, especially in the afternoons. People mostly come by for the boat races when that time of year rolls around. We try to keep the gardens looking decent, but sometimes the water lilies just take over the edge of the shore. The staff lives nearby, so we are all locals. It gets very quiet at night, which is nice if you like the sound of water hitting the wooden docks. We serve the kind of food we eat at home, mostly fish caught right from the lake. It isn't a fancy place, just a spot to stay and eat. Guests usually spend their time sitting on the porch watching the houseboats go by. The mosquitoes can be a real bother in the evenings, so we always tell people to keep their screens shut. Life just moves a bit slower in this part of the world. There isn't much to do except look at the water or watch the birds. Sometimes you see a fisherman out there early in the morning before the sun is even up. The thatched roofs need a lot of work every few seasons because of the rain. We just do our best to keep things running. It is just how things are here and we don't try to change it much.
