M. V. Joseph & Sons

M. V. Joseph & Sons has been tied to Post Box No. 86 for longer than I can remember. People ask why we still use the post box as the main point, but it’s just the way it has always been done here. My grandfather started things, and then it went to the sons, and now we are the ones sitting at the desks. It isn't a flashy setup. The office has old wooden furniture and stacks of papers that we eventually get through. We deal with people who have known our family for decades. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook, and other days it is just the sound of the ceiling fan clicking. We don’t go in for all that modern marketing talk you see everywhere now. It feels a bit fake to us. We just handle the orders and talk to the folks who come in. It’s a quiet life in some ways, but there is always a bit of stress when the deadlines pile up. We try to keep things simple. If someone needs something, they know where to find us or where to send the mail. The "Sons" part of the name means something to us, even if we are all grown up now. It’s about keeping the name going. We drink a lot of tea and try to keep the books in order. It’s just honest work.
