Hridika Spices Flavourings Private Limited is located in Kayamkulam, which is part of Alappuzha in Kerala. We operate out of Vijesh Bhavan in Pathiyoor East, care of Indira Vijayan. It’s a local setup, right in the heart of where many spices are grown. The building, Vijesh Bhavan, is just a regular house that we’ve adapted for our spice work. Because we deal with flavorings and spices, the whole place smells very strongly of pepper and nutmeg. It gets into your clothes and your hair by the end of the day. We spend a lot of time sorting through the raw materials and making sure everything is dry. In Pathiyoor East, things move a bit slower, and we like it that way. We aren't trying to be a massive corporation. It’s just a few of us, including Indira, who keep things running. We use old-fashioned scales sometimes and do a lot of the bagging by hand. The rainy season in Kerala can be tough because we have to make sure the spices stay perfectly dry inside the house. We have to keep the windows shut when the monsoon hits. It’s a lot of manual labor, lifting sacks and checking the quality of the batches. We don't have any fancy marketing people or a big sales team. We just work from the house and let the spices speak for themselves.
