About Empees Modern Rice Mill – Food & Beverages in Alappuzha
We run Empees Modern Rice Mill out here in Champakulam. It’s a quiet area for the most part, except for when the mill is running at full speed. We’ve been processing local paddy for a long time now. The building is old but the machinery inside does the job well enough. We don’t have any big signs or advertisements. People in the village and the nearby areas just know we are here. A lot of our day involves unloading sacks from the boats or trucks and getting them into the feeders. It gets very warm inside when the dryers are going, so we take frequent breaks in the shade outside. We aren't a massive corporation, just a local business trying to provide a service to the farmers around here. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to spend the whole afternoon fixing them ourselves with whatever tools we have on hand. It can be a messy job with all the rice dust and husks, but it's what we do. We usually close up when the sun starts to set and the light gets low. There isn't much to it besides the daily routine of milling and bagging. We try to keep the quality consistent so people keep coming back. It’s a simple life and we are happy enough with how things are going at the mill. It’s just honest work in a beautiful part of the world, and that's plenty for us.
