Down at 148, Manthapuri, you’ll find Padma Reddy Poultry Farms. This isn't an office job. The day starts well before the sun comes up because the birds don't care about our sleep schedules. It’s a lot of manual labor, from hauling feed bags to making sure the water lines are clear of any blockages. The farm is a busy place, and it honestly smells like a farm should, which might be a bit much for some people. We spend most of our time in the sheds or checking on the equipment. There is always something that needs fixing, whether it’s a loose wire or a gate that won't shut right. Manthapuri is a quiet area, which is good for the birds, but it means we are a bit far from everything else. We don't have a marketing team or a sales department. When we have stock ready, we sell it, and that’s that. The floor is usually covered in some kind of dirt, and our boots are never clean. It’s a physical life that keeps us on our feet all day long. We just aim to keep the farm running and make sure everything is healthy and moving along. It’s a simple cycle of feeding and cleaning, repeated day after day without much change. There is plenty of work to do and not enough hours in the day to get it all done.
