About Payoshni Ganga Organic Milk Producer – Agriculture & Farming in Akola
Way out in the Akola district, there’s a small village called Kolambi. That’s where you’ll find us at house number 260. We started Payoshni Ganga Organic Milk Producer Limited because we grew up around cattle and wanted to do things the old-fashioned way. The milk business is tough because everything has to happen so fast before it spoils in this heat. We are up way before the sun, cleaning the sheds and making sure the cows are okay. It’s a messy, physical job, and your clothes always smell like the farm. We don’t use any of those growth hormones or weird chemicals that the big dairies use. It’s just fresh, organic milk. The name Payoshni Ganga sounds a bit grand, but we are just a small group of people in a dusty village. The road from Kolambi to the main town is full of potholes, which makes transporting the milk cans a real challenge every single morning. We don’t have any fancy cooling systems yet, just the basic stuff to keep things going. It’s an honest living, even if it doesn't make us rich. Most of our day is spent just managing the animals and making sure the hygiene is good enough. We aren't trying to change the world; we just want to provide some decent milk to the local area and keep our cows healthy. It’s hard work but it is ours.
