Mahesh Hardware & Building Material

If you are heading down the Main Road in Telhara, you will find Mahesh Hardware & Building Material right there at the Shegaon Naka. We are on the way to the Railway Station Road, which means there is almost always someone passing by the front door. The shop is filled with all sorts of things from small nails to big pipes and bags of cement. It feels like there is never enough space for everything we want to keep in stock. We often have to shift things around just to find what a customer is asking for. My hands are usually a bit greasy or dusty from handling the hardware items all day. The railway station being so close means we hear the trains coming and going constantly. It gives the whole area a certain rhythm that we have gotten used to. We open up early because that’s when the laborers and builders are starting their day and need their supplies. It’s a lot of talking to people and trying to remember where we put that specific sized wrench or the right type of hinge. Sometimes the rain leaks in a bit near the back door, so we have to move the bags of stuff onto wooden pallets to keep them dry. It’s just how it goes in a place like this. We know most of the people who live around the Naka and they know they can find us here from morning until late evening. It is a simple life and we stay pretty busy.
