Yuvraj General Store

Running Yuvraj General Store at Makhupura Chouraha keeps me pretty busy. Since we are right on Beawar Road here in Mangliawas, there is never a quiet moment. You can hear the horns honking all day long. I started this shop because I wanted to work for myself and stay close to home. It is a small space, but I make sure to pack in as much as I can. Most of the folks who live nearby come here for their flour, oil, and spices. I keep a notebook behind the counter to track what is running low, though sometimes I forget to write things down. It gets hot in the afternoons, so I usually sit near the fan and wait for the sun to go down a bit. That is when the crowd starts coming in. Dealing with the distributors can be a headache sometimes, especially when they forget half the order. I just tell my customers to come back tomorrow if something is missing. It is a basic shop, nothing too special to look at, but it serves the people around the chouraha well enough. I handle everything myself, from cleaning the floor to stacking the crates. Some days are long and my back hurts by the time I close up, but that is part of the job. I like being at the center of things on this road. It is a good way to stay connected to what is happening. Sometimes the neighbor's dog sleeps right in the doorway.
