Sitaram Sitaram Halwai

You can find Sitaram Sitaram Halwai near the Chungi Chowki on Srinagar Road. It's a familiar spot for people in this part of town. We’re just a small operation, really. Most of our day is spent in the kitchen area, which is always the warmest room in the building. We start early, boiling down the milk and getting the spices ready for the day’s batches. It’s a lot of stirring and waiting. We don't have a big fancy menu, just the items we've been making for years. The shop itself is pretty plain, with just enough room for a few people to stand at the counter. We see a lot of commuters who stop by when traffic gets slow at the chowki. Sometimes we have a bit of a laugh with the regulars, and other times it’s so busy we can barely say hello. We don't use any high-tech equipment, just the same pots and pans we've had forever. There’s a certain way things have to be done, and we don't see any reason to change it now. Occasionally we might get an order wrong or run out of a particular sweet, but we do our best to fix it. It's a simple business. We work hard, we serve the neighborhood, and we go home tired. That’s pretty much the story of our shop on Srinagar Road. We’re glad to be here and hope to keep serving the local folks.
