Shri Shyam Misthan Bhandar

Our shop Shri Shyam Misthan Bhandar is located in Pisangan Sadar Bazar. It is a tight street and sometimes it is hard for people to even find a place to park their cycles. We open the doors early because the morning is when people want their sweets before they head out to the fields or their jobs. The building we are in is quite old and the walls have some cracks but it serves us well enough. We do all the cooking in the back part of the shop. You can hear the metal pans clanging and the fire roaring for most of the morning. It gets a bit smoky inside so we keep the front door wide open. We make the traditional stuff that people in Pisangan have been eating for a long time. My uncle and I handle most of the work ourselves. We don't have a computer or anything like that to track things. We just remember what people like. The sugar arrives in big heavy sacks that we have to haul in from the main road. It is tiring work but we are used to it by now. In the evenings the local kids come by with a few coins looking for something sweet. We like being part of the neighborhood here in the bazar. It is just how life is for us.
