Shri Azad Sweets

We start the day pretty early here at Nala Bazar Main Road. The milk delivery comes in before the sun is even fully up and that is when we get the stoves going. Shri Azad Sweets is not a big place but it stays busy because of where we are located. The main road is always noisy with trucks and people shouting. We spend most of the morning making fresh batches of whatever is needed for the day. You can smell the sugar syrup from a block away. It gets really hot in the back of the shop especially during the summer months when the air doesn't move much. We have a couple of glass cases where we put everything once it is cooled down. People usually just stand around the counter and eat or take a box home for their families. We don't have any fancy signs or big advertisements. Most people who come here have been doing it for years. My father started this and now I run it with some help from the family. We see the same faces every single morning. It is a lot of hard work keeping the place clean because the dust from the street is constant. We just keep our heads down and do the work. If you are walking down Nala Bazar you will see us there. We are just a normal part of the street.
