Sarneshwar Kirana Store

Our kirana store is located in Saje Ki Badi, which is part of the Sadar Bazar area. Being in the bazaar means it is always noisy and there is always something happening. We deal in all the standard kitchen supplies like spices, oils, and grains. The building we are in is quite old, so it has a certain character to it, even if it’s not the most modern place. We have big sacks of flour and rice sitting right on the floor. People come in and ask for a specific amount, and we weigh it out for them right there. It is a very manual way of doing things, but it’s how we have always done it. We don't have a lot of help, so we handle the heavy lifting and the cleaning ourselves. Sadar Bazar is a place where everyone knows everyone else. We often hear all the local gossip while we are busy filling up bags. The shop can get quite dusty because of all the people and vehicles outside, so we have to clean the shelves almost every day. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just a regular store where you can get what you need for your dinner. We open up quite early in the morning and stay until the market starts to close down at night. It’s a long day, but it’s what we are used to. We just want to keep serving the community like we have been doing.
