Sai Baba Provision Store

Sai Baba Provision Store is tucked away in the Gulab Bari mitri mohalla area of Ajmer. This is a real neighborhood spot. We mostly deal with daily groceries and household items that people need for their kitchens. You’ll see big sacks of grain and pulses stacked near the entrance. The shop has a specific smell of spices and tea leaves that I’ve grown used to over the years. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by their first name. It’s the kind of place where people stop to chat for ten minutes while they are buying their sugar or oil. We don't have any computerized scanners or fancy checkout aisles. We just write things down and use our scales. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling, so we have to use a small wooden ladder to reach the stuff at the top. It’s a bit dusty in the corners, but we try to keep things as tidy as we can. The morning time is always the busiest when people are getting things for their breakfast. During the afternoon, it gets a bit quiet and we might take a small break. We aren't trying to be a big supermarket. We are just a local provision store serving our neighbors in the mohalla. It is hard work but it’s a good life being part of this community in Ajmer. That's all there is to it.
