Raj Marble

If you know Madanganj Kishangarh, you know how much marble is everywhere. Raj Marble is right on the Ajmer Road, not far from the High Tech area. It's a busy spot with all the trucks coming and going from the mines. We spend our mornings mostly unloading new stock or walking around the yard to see what we have left. It’s hot work in the summer, standing out there with all that white stone reflecting the sun back at you. We don't have a big corporate setup or anything. It’s just a place where we keep the marble slabs and wait for people to drop by. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat about the local news. We keep things pretty simple. If someone wants to see a specific slab, we have to move three others out of the way first. That takes time and some muscle. The yard gets messy when we are busy, but we try to sweep up the stone chips when we can. It’s just a regular local business. We deal with the same drivers and the same loaders every week. Sometimes the phone rings too much and other times it’s quiet for hours. We just stay here near the road and keep an eye on the inventory. It's mostly about knowing where everything is buried in the stacks so we don't spend all day searching for one piece.
