Rahul General Store

Rahul General Store is out near the Adarsh Nagar Bypass Road, close to where it meets Nasirabad Road. Since we are near the bypass, we get a lot of different people stopping by. It is not just the locals from the neighborhood, but sometimes people just passing through who need a quick snack or a bottle of water. The wind can get pretty strong out here, blowing dust in from the open road, so I am constantly wiping down the glass jars on the front counter. We keep a bit of everything, like batteries, pens, loaves of bread, and those little toys that kids always want. The shop isn't very large, but we try to use every inch of the wall space for hanging packets of chips and biscuits. It is a bit quieter than the main market, which I like. I usually spend the afternoons sitting on a small stool near the door, watching the trucks go by on the bypass. It gets a little lonely sometimes until a customer walks in and we talk for a bit. The shelves are mostly made of metal and they rattle a little when a heavy vehicle goes by outside. It’s a simple life here on the edge of town, just keeping the shop running and making sure we have the basic things people look for when they are on their way somewhere else.
