Prasadam Sweets & Namkeen

Over at Pahadganj Police Line, you’ll find Prasadam Sweets & Namkeen. Being near the police line means we get a lot of officers and staff coming in during their breaks. It’s a bit of a quieter area compared to the main market, but we still stay pretty occupied. We focus a lot on the namkeen part of the business because people seem to like having something salty with their tea in the afternoon. We fry everything in the back room, and the smell usually drifts out onto the street. Some days the heat from the large frying vats is almost too much to handle, but we’ve been doing it so long we hardly notice anymore. We aren't a corporate chain or anything like that, just a regular local shop. The counters are a bit worn out, and the paint on the walls could probably use a touch-up, but we spend most of our money on getting good ingredients instead of decor. People know what to expect when they come here. They usually just ask what’s fresh today. We keep the sweets in the glass case towards the front so people can see them easily. It’s a simple setup. We don’t really have a big team, just a few of us making sure everything is cooked and sold before the day ends. It’s just a normal job for us, really, and we keep at it every day.
