Pankaj Sweet Mart

Pankaj Sweet Mart sits on Ghati Ganj Dargah Road. It’s a very crowded street, especially on certain days of the week when pilgrims are heading towards the Dargah. We get a lot of foot traffic here. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, just a regular storefront with some glass displays. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves and the big containers where we keep the namkeen and sweets. We spend most of our day just refilling those containers because they empty out pretty fast when it’s busy. The road outside is always dug up or under some kind of repair, so it’s quite a struggle to keep the dust out of the front area. We use a lot of fans to keep the air moving, but it still gets stuffy. Most of our customers are just people passing through who need a quick snack or something sweet to carry with them. We don’t do any fancy packaging, just the regular boxes and paper bags. My brother and I run the place mostly, and we’ve gotten used to the noise of the street. It’s just how life is here. We don’t have much time for sitting down once the morning rush starts. It’s a steady kind of life, even if it’s tiring. We just try to make enough for everyone who walks through the door before we head home to rest for the next day.
