Naresh General Store

Naresh General Store is located near the Chungi Chowki on Beawar Road in Bapu Nagar. This is a busy area because of the main road. Trucks and buses are always passing by, so there’s a lot of smoke and noise. We’ve been at this location for about ten years now. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of things. If you need a specific type of soap or a certain brand of flour, we probably have it buried somewhere in the stacks. I work here with my younger brother. We usually take turns so one of us can go home for lunch. The counter is made of old wood and has scratches from years of coins and keys being tossed on it. We have a small TV in the corner that we keep on for the news, mostly so we know what’s happening in the world outside Bapu Nagar. Customers often stay for a few minutes to watch a bit of the cricket match or the headlines while they wait for us to bag their groceries. We don't have a computerized billing system; we just use a calculator and give hand-written receipts if someone asks for one. It’s a very basic operation. We know our regulars and what they like. It’s just a small family business trying to serve the people who live and work along Beawar Road.
