Nanumal Revachand Store

Nanumal Revachand Store is located out on Srinagar Road. It’s one of those shops that has been part of the street for a long time. We have all the basic stuff like flour, pulses, and soaps. The shelves are mostly wooden and some of them have been there since the beginning. We spend a lot of our morning just cleaning the dust that comes in from the road. Srinagar Road is always busy with traffic, so there is never really a quiet moment. We have a lot of items stacked up on the floor because we don't have enough shelf space for everything. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, but we know exactly where everything is kept. Customers come in and out all day, mostly looking for their daily cooking supplies. We handle everything ourselves, from lifting the heavy sacks to counting the money. The fan on the ceiling makes a lot of noise but it helps with the heat. We don't do any big advertising, people just know us from being here. Sometimes we sit outside on a plastic chair when there are no customers. It’s a slow but steady way of life. We like the routine of opening up, greeting the regulars, and closing down when it gets dark. It is just a plain, simple store for the people living nearby on Srinagar Road.
