Nakoda Kirana & General Store

Our shop is located in the middle of Sadar Bazar in Silora. Being in a market area means it stays quite busy from the moment we pull up the shutters in the morning. We focus mostly on kirana items, which means a lot of heavy sacks of rice, pulses, and grains. The floor is usually covered in a bit of dust from the flour bags, but we sweep it up when we can. It’s a practical place, not meant for looking pretty. We have rows of jars filled with different spices and lentils. People come to us when they are doing their proper kitchen stocking for the month. Since we are in Sadar Bazar, there are always people walking past and popping in for small things like a pack of biscuits or some hair oil. It gets loud with all the shouting from the other stalls nearby, but we are used to it by now. My hands are usually a bit rough from handling all the packaging and crates every day. We don't have a lot of space for people to lounge around, so it’s usually just quick transactions. I’ve lived in Silora for a long time, so I know which brands people here prefer and which ones they won't touch. We just try to keep the stock fresh and the weights honest. It’s a lot of physical work, especially when the new stock arrives and everything has to be carried inside by hand.
