Naamdev General Store

Naamdev General Store is right here in Kekri and we spend most of our days just getting things ready for whoever walks in. It isn't a huge place but we try to keep the shelves full of the stuff people actually need like tea leaves, sugar, and those little packets of spices. Sometimes the delivery truck is late and it gets a bit stressful trying to find where everything went. The floor needs a sweep pretty often because of the dust that blows in from the street but that is just how it is around here. We open early in the morning when it is still a bit cool and stay through the heat of the afternoon. People come by for a quick bag of flour or maybe just some soap they forgot to buy earlier in the week. It gets loud when the school kids come in for snacks after their classes are done. We spend a lot of time checking the expiry dates on the milk and bread because nobody wants old food. There is always a pile of cardboard boxes in the back that needs to be flattened. It’s a lot of manual work and standing on your feet all day. Some days are slower than others and we just sit by the counter and wait for the next person to show up. It is a simple life running a shop in a place like this. We know most of the faces that walk through the door.
