Murli Manohar Provision Store is located in Janta Market, which is part of the Nala Bazar area. We are a provision store, so we keep all the bulk supplies people need for their daily kitchens. You’ll find big sacks of rice, different kinds of lentils, and whole spices sitting around the shop floor. Janta Market is a place where people come to do their serious grocery shopping for the whole month. It’s not like a modern supermarket with aisles; you have to ask us for what you want and we weigh it out for you. The air in the shop smells strongly like cumin, coriander, and turmeric. We spend a lot of our time hauling heavy bags and filling smaller containers for customers. It’s physical work and it keeps us on our feet all day. Nala Bazar is a narrow place, so getting our deliveries in from the trucks can be a bit of a struggle sometimes. We have a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us for many years. They trust us to give them good quality grains and spices. The ledger book on our desk is thick with names and old accounts. We don't use a computer system here; we just write everything down by hand in our books. It works well enough for us. The shop is always a bit dusty from all the flour and grain, but that's just part of the job. We open early and stay until the last customer leaves the market. We have been here for a long time.
