Majdur Mishtan Bhandar

You can find Majdur Mishtan Bhandar over at Laxmi Chowk on Kutcheri Road. The name sort of says it all about who we are and who we serve. We’re right near the offices and the courts, so we get a lot of people who work hard for a living stopping by. We open early to get the tea going and the first batch of snacks ready. It’s a small place, and sometimes the line goes out onto the sidewalk at Kutcheri Road. We don’t have any fancy cooling systems, just a few ceiling fans that hum all day long. The walls have some old photos and a calendar that’s usually a month behind. We make our sweets in the back room. It’s a bit dark back there, but we know where everything is. We don't use any secret recipes or special ingredients. It’s just milk, sugar, flour, and ghee. We try to keep the prices fair because we know our customers aren't looking to spend a fortune. Sometimes we run out of change in the drawer and have to ask the shop next door for some. It’s a friendly enough neighborhood. We don’t have a big sign with lights, just a painted board. We’ve been at Laxmi Chowk for a long time now, and we’re just happy to keep the doors open every morning for the people who work nearby.
