Mahaveer General Store

Mahaveer General Store is located right in the heart of Ram Nagar in Narsinghpura. We’ve been here for a good while now. The shop isn’t very big, but we pack it full of stuff people use every day. If you walk in, you’ll see bags of rice and dal near the front and soaps and shampoos further back. It gets quite dusty because of the road outside, so we spend a lot of time wiping things down. Most of our customers live just a few streets away. We know most of them by name, and we know what they usually buy before they even ask. My father started this place, and now I’m the one mostly sitting at the counter. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour or two, so we keep a flashlight handy to help people see the labels. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for the festival seasons when everyone is buying sweets and decorations. We don’t do any advertising. People just know we are here. If someone needs a credit for a few days until payday, we usually work something out because we trust our neighbors. The shop door squeaks a bit when it’s humid, but we haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. It’s just a normal neighborhood store where you can get your groceries and hear what’s happening in Narsinghpura without any fuss or fancy talk.
