Krishna General Store

Running Krishna General Store in Pahadganj is a lot of work but it keeps us busy. We are located right on Cavandas Pura Road where the noise never really stops. I spend most of my day behind the wooden counter. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling. We have to use a small stool to reach the top jars. People from around the neighborhood come in for their daily supplies. It’s mostly flour, rice, and pulses. Sometimes students from the nearby areas stop by for pens or notebooks. The air smells like spices and old paper in here. The morning sun hits the front of the shop quite hard, so we hang a screen to keep it cool. We don’t do any big advertising. People just know we are here. If someone needs a certain brand of tea or a specific cleaning soap, we usually have it buried somewhere in the back. The sidewalk outside is narrow and sometimes the cows block the entrance, which is just part of living here. We’ve lived in this area for years, so we know most of the faces. It’s not a big supermarket, just a local spot where you can get what you need without much fuss. We open early and stay until the streetlights come on. It’s a steady routine. Nothing fancy, just honest work on a busy road in Pahadganj.
